About the MA Healthy Soils Guide

Learn and improve techniques to mitigate and prevent the impacts of climate change

Building soil health and maximizing the Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) sequestration potential is the only way a development site can truly become carbon neutral or a carbon sink. The goal for this Guide is to provide comprehensive guidance and support for improving soil health, which is critical for enhancing food security, environmental justice, and climate resilience across the state.

Empowering a broad coalition to improve the future

Planners, regulators, architects, developers, engineers, ecologists, environmental monitors, landscape architects, landscape designers, and contractors all have a role to play in maintaining and improving soil health. By offering targeted resources and implementation guides, the website aims to empower these professionals to adopt best practices in soil management and contribute to the overall goals of the HSAP.
